Here are some examples of things others have done.

  • “Game on” – A programme based on Good Sports in Australia.  A club or clubs are supported to gain knowledge and skills, develop policies aimed at reducing alcohol-related harm and providing family friendly environments. Participating clubs gain accreditation based on the level of action they’ve taken. To find out more 
  •  “Keep it in the club” and “Ease up on their futures” – These projects target issues on the sidelines, such as violence, aggression and bad language relating to drinking prior and during games. They focus on stopping the drinking before and during the game, and encouraging spectators and supporters to join the players in the club after the game.  Activities and entertainment are planned in the club rooms after the game.  There are incentives provided such as sideline flags, gear and equipment. It was quite resource intensive so might need to be adapted or used to initiate a policy change rather than applied long term.
